Description

The Skype you know and love has an all-new design, supercharged with a ton of new features and new ways to stay connected with the people you care about most. What can I do with Skype? • Messaging made awesome: More than just text. Send photos, videos, voice messages, emoticons, Mojis and more. You can also respond to any message from your contacts with reactions. • Great for groups: Add your favorite people and start chatting. Use groups to plan together, play together, for staying in touch or just for hanging out. • Call everyone - Skype, mobiles and landlines: Free* video and voice calls make it easier to stay connected with friends and family. You’ll also enjoy low calling rates to mobiles and landlines worldwide with Skype.  • Never miss a moment with quick capture: Quickly swipe to capture photos and videos. Make them your own by adding emoticons, stickers and annotations. • Share Highlights: Keep others updated with Highlights from your day. React to any highlights with awesome emoticons or send a private message about that highlight. Your highlights only stay visible for 7 days to your followers. *Skype to Skype calls are free. Operator data charges may apply. We recommend using an unlimited data plan or WiFi connection. Upgrading to the new Skype may result in the deletion of content from older conversations. To save photos and videos that were previously sent or received in an older version of Skype, save that content to your camera roll/photo gallery before upgrading to the new Skype.

  • A major step down

Skype was the mainstay of my audio/video communications. The early version on the iPhone was excellent. The new version is awkward and confusing. It’s overgrown with useless and dysfunctional features, and lacks basic controls and information. I’ve switched to FaceTime.
  • Is this the best Microsoft can do?

Freezes and crashes constantly. Also doesn’t access all iPhone contacts for making calls to land lines.
  • Amazingly bad (2 steps back)

This new version of Skype is plain awful. The most annoying part (beyond the user interface) is how difficult the mobile app is at managing incoming messages. The previous version was like any other messengers with notifications. I’ll check my app to find no new messages but then open my laptop and find conversations and messages that were sent but never came through on the app. Kinda sad...

I’ll give you a 5 star review once the app is updated to support the iPhone X!

Just going to make this short. I hate to have to log out of one account then go on another for family and friends, maybe if you guys could make a few changes to the app so I can switch between profiles without logging out

When I'm on call with someone and my alarm goes off, it puts them on hold and I have no idea how to take them off hold? When I get another call, it immediately hangs up on my current skype call when it used to put them on hold. This app is getting annoying to use zz. I still don't know how to unhold someone, this is ridiculous. Going to use a different app.

Unusable. The new UI is a hot mess. Trying to make a simple phone call is nigh impossible, and when you actually get to place the call, for some reason it defaults to speakerphone. The revamp can only be described as an absolute trainwreck. EDIT: I've decided to give up on Skype altogether and made the switch to Viber for paid phone calls (I had already been using Viber for free texting and free calls). No noticeable difference on the call quality, and an interface that actually makes sense. Thanks for nothing, Microsoft. Bye, Skype.

Geez the app is already slow and now I’m stuck with ads here too. Are you trying to be like Facebook and Instagram and spam us with ads?
