  • Love the app

Seems like some of the issues I had before are now fixed. Now the app is working great and I love it.
  • Censorship

They don’t carry certain podcasts like Infowars, oh well.
  • Stop criticizing this app for “censorship”

There are plenty of issues with this app. Key among them is the constant crashing, which is getting increasingly annoying. But to those of you getting your hackles up because the developer decided not to give a platform to Alex Jones: GET A GRIP! Because Downcast is protected by the first amendment, it cannot be compelled to broadcast Alex Jones any more than it can be compelled to broadcast content that advocates nazism, murder, or pedophilia. Censorship is the government shutting down free speech. That has not happened here. This is a private company deciding that it doesn’t want to be associated with a rabble rousing snake oil salesman like Alex Jones. Alex Jones still has a platform. If you want to listen to that jackass carnival barker, you can go to his website. It’s still there. You can download his awful content there too.

  • Useful, well thought out app

Default settings are appropriate. App works well!
  • Functional but glitchy

    By Papposilenus
This is a full-featured but glitchy podcast app. i’ve been using it for almost 3 years. Lately, performance has deteriorated. It’s almost impossible to use the app on a slow network or VPN: the UI becomes unresponsive. I mean 20-30 second freezes. Tapping multiple times is a natural response to this (“did the screen not puck up my tap?”), and in that case you are taken down into a particular detail of the UI multiple times once the app responds. You have to tap the menu back-arrow breadcrumbs multiple times to exit that detail, if the app doesn’t crash. Play & stop buttons don’t respond. The control center doesn’t work. These all started appearing around iOS 10, so I believe they have to do with the new conventions around background apps. But it’s iOS 12 now! Fix them.
  • Love it!

My favorite podcast app that’s by far much MUCH better than the built in default Apple podcast app.
  • Conscientious app and developer

    By CJM71
The developer cares about the medium and his customers and it shows - constantly being refined and hones, highly recommended.
  • The best way to manage my podcasts

    Intuitive, user-friendly
  • Powerful, but audio only.

Great podcast app with power user features, and a very nice UI. I especially like the little touches like the ‘light switch’ gesture to switch between light and dark mode. Support for features like handoff, split screen multitasking, shortcuts, and airplay are top notch. Curious is the lack of support for video podcasts though. You can subscribe, but it will only play the audio.
